Ana Janevski (1976, Belgrade) is Curator in the Department of Media and Performance Art at The Museum of Modern Art. She holds an MA at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris on the Articulation of Balkanism in Contemporary Art. Ana Janevski joined The Museum of Modern Art in 2011. She has co- organized the performance series Words in the World (including performances by Paulina Olowska, Nora Schultz, Ei Arakawa, and Guy de Cointet); the performance symposium How Are We Performing Today; Martha Rosler’s Meta-Monumental Garage Sale; and the performance series Performing Histories: Living Artworks Examining the Past Ana Janevski is currently Curator in the Department of Media and Performance Art at The Museum of Modern Art. Most recently, she co-organized Judson Dance Theater: The Work is Never Done (with Thomas Lax and Martha Joseph) She has collaborated with many choreographers and artists such as Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Jérôme Bel, Yvonne Rainer, Rabih Mroué, Boris Charmatz & Musée de la danse Janevski stands with the mirrored glass and perforated steel of Dan Graham's Child's Play, 2015–16 in MoMA's sculpture garden. Forging new ground as a curator in the Museum of Modern Art’s department of media and performance art—formed in 2006, the youngest department at the New York art institution—Ana Janevski has been preparing herself for the challenge her whole life. Ana Janevski, Associate Curator in the Department of Media and Performance Art at the Museum of Modern Art is the first curator to have presented Charmatz’ work in the US. She will preview the performance and contextualize Charmatz’ work. The launch of Zdenka Badovinac’s new book Comradeship: Curating, Art, and Politics in Post-socialist Europe published by ICI.The evening will featured a presentation and conversation with Zdenka Badovinac and Ana Janevski considering the trajectory of Badovinac’s work as it is articulated through her new publication.
